Confused about what your lawyer actually checks when you buy a property?
A LIM (Land Information Memorandum) comes from the council. It tells you about consents, zoning, drainage, hazards, and anything the council holds on record about the property.
A title search tells you who owns the property, what's registered against it, and whether there are any mortgages, easements, or covenants that could affect you.
