I happened to read these numbers while reading an article on a popular NZ website.. these figures bring a lot of anxiety around the economic growth of our country… we all know that aftermath of Covid is not easy to deal with- higher inflation rate, GDP loss, significant social effects
By keeping the borders closed for international migrants is simply not going to work. Migrant workers make important contribution to the labour market in both high and low skilled occupations
I hope that tomorrow’s government announcement on the border opening outlines an urgent action plan

From 1st May, you can travel to New Zealand without needing to apply for a border exception-
1. If you are from a visa waiver country
2. If hold any type of visitor visa, and still meet the conditions under which your visa was granted.
3. If you are a dependant of a work visa holder, with valid visitor visa

Good news for everyone who were waiting to enter NZ on working holiday visa scheme
Starting from tomorrow - 14th March at 10am, INZ will resume processing some working holiday applications

New Zealand has working holiday scheme agreements with many countries, allowing you to work in and explore our great country.

An important update from INZ for Phase 2 Residence Applications -

1. Applications will be submitted through INZ enhanced online system. Eligible applicants will be able to apply from 1st March until 31st July 2022

2. INZ will not start processing of these applications until the end of March

3. Allocation of these applications will be prioritised based on the principle applicant visa expiry date

4. Medical certificate is not needed to upload. If it’s required, it can be sent later to INZ

INZ will start moving onto the enhanced Immigration Online system on 31 January 2022 which means :
* Faster processing
* Easier submissions
* Real time application progress reports
* Efficient process
* Quicker results
