Washington’s agenda faced new friction this week as lawmakers navigated war powers debates, reconciliation delays, and competing priorities around defense spending.

⚖️ House Republican leaders delayed a vote on an Iran war powers resolution amid concerns over GOP absences and bipartisan unease around presidential war authority.

🧾 Senate Republicans postponed action on an immigration reconciliation package as internal disputes over enforcement funding, compensation provisions, and other add-ons slowed negotiations.

🛡️ House Budget Chair Arrington floated a third reconciliation package focused on additional Pentagon funding, spending cuts, and affordability measures ahead of the August recess.

It’s been a full week in Washington, D.C. for our federal policy team.

Pittman Law Group was proud to welcome stakeholders from our client, Miami-Dade County, to the nation’s capital for important conversations on federal priorities, policy, and partnership.

We were also honored to sponsor a New Democracy event at the Microsoft Innovation Center recognizing the great Fred Humphries, Jr., whose leadership and impact continue to inspire so many. A special thanks to Reps. Davids & Delbene for addressing the group during the celebration.

We are grateful for the clients, partners, and leaders we have the privilege of working alongside in D.C. and beyond.
