Owen Beattie Solicitors represented a doctor who was acquitted of all charges, including assault and harassment, following a fully contested hearing at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Friday 10 April 2026.

This case proceeded to a contested hearing, underlining our commitment to robustly defending our clients and seeing cases through to trial where necessary.

Owen Beattie Solicitors has secured an acquittal for Sean Carlin, following drug charges brought by the PSNI and Public Prosecution Service.

From the outset, Mr Carlin maintained his innocence and has now been entirely vindicated. Whilst Mr Carlin’s acquittal is welcomed, a thorough examination of the decision to investigate and prosecute Mr Carlin must now be undertaken.

We continue to engage with the Police Ombudsman and intend to bring legal action for what we say has been an entirely malicious prosecution.
