The LSPG JULY regular monthly meeting and Lunch & Learn will be held at The Log Cabin at McPherson Park located at 120 E. Park Avenue [Parking available in the park area in front of the Log Cabin and across the street from the Sears Shelter Building, if needed] – in downtown Greenville on Wednesday, JULY 15, 2026 at 12:30 p.m.
Our speaker this month will be Carolyn B. Matlack, JD, a pioneer in the field of animal rights law. Ms. Matlack will be talking with us on challenges on the way animals are viewed under the law. Animals experience pain, fear, joy, love, memory, and emotional attachment. Yet legally, they are often treated no differently from ordinary property. This event introduces the Sentient Property Solution, a compassionate and practical legal concept designed to recognize what animal lovers have always understood: animals are not things. They are living beings with feelings.
