Covid-19 Office Policy
In an effort to help protect the health and safety of our staff, our clients, and our community, Laws & Laws has instituted several safety measures. For the foreseeable future, we will remain open to assist our clients. We are encouraging that all consultations (contract review, lease review, business formation and estate planning, etc) be via phone conference and email. We ask that all non-essential people (people not signing documents) remain at home. If you are unsure if you are required to sign documents please call or email us.
Safety Measures.
The lobby and conference rooms, including the furniture and tables, will be sprayed with Lysol after every appointment.
The door k***s and bathroom fixtures will be sprayed with Lysol after every appointment.
We have Purell hand sanitizer at the paralegal's desks, on the lobby coffee table, and Purell handwipes in the conference room.
We have latex gloves available upon request.
We have promotional pens for signing documents. This will be your personal pen and should be taken with you after your appointment.
Until further notice, we have instituted a no handshake policy.
If you need to drop off documents or earnest money, please place in an envelope and push it through the mail slot on our front door. Please do not forget to write your contact information on the document packet, so that we may contact you to let you know that we received it, or so that we may contact you if the packet is missing information.
Closing Considerations.
If the closing appointment has a large number of people, we may stagger closing and have buyers come in at one time and sellers at another. This means, we may not be able to table fund immediately. Please understand that we are trying to promote health safety as well as ensure that the laws and regulations of our profession are not compromised.
Unfortunately, South Carolina does not allow remote closings or remote notary. We can arrange for mail away documents, however, deeds, notes and mortgages require wet signatures in front of an independent witness and notary public. We must have the originals for closing and recording. If you are concerned about attending closing, please call us to discuss your situation.
If you are feeling unwell, and you need to sign documents, please call us to discuss your situation. We may need to postpone your signing, or may need to schedule a separate time for you to sign in a secluded area so as to not put others at risk.
