Practice of Law: We've been asked numerous times lately, "What type of law do you practice?". From a marketing perspective, this suggests we haven't done enough to promote what we have evolved to do, and do best:

1. Personal Injury/Medical Malpractice. (75%)
2. Criminal Defense and PFA's (20%)
3. Non-Litigation Consultations on miscellaneous matters, on a case-by-case basis. ((5%)

What qualifies us in these areas?

A. 35 years of handling PI, MM and CR Defense, including PFA's.
B. 100+ Jury Trials and 500+ Bench Trials/major motion Hearings.
C. 1,500+ hours of Continuing Legal Education (The Maine Bar's mandatory education is 12 hours/year, or 420 hours total).
D. 4 years teaching courses in Law/Business/Real Estate as an Adjunct Professor at a community college (2 yrs) and at a local University (2 yrs).
E. Guest-lectures, Podcast Appearances, and prepared/presented at well over 100 Continuing Legal Education Seminars for Attorneys, Judges, Healthcare Providers, and others whose interests intersect with the Law.
E. 80+ hours per week, for 35 years of walking the talk. And now that we focus on a limited number of practice areas, that weekly grind is down to 40 - 60 hours, as our case selection is focused.

Question: And if we don't handle your issue or practice area?

Answer: Call/Email/FB us anyway. Nobody knows the best attorneys for each area of the law better than a well-connected and experienced lawyer.

We maintain a Chart of reputable attorneys across all practice areas so you can quickly get names and contact information. And across the entire United States and the U.K.

What's behind YOUR Auto Insurance Rates?

Accidents, Driving Records, Policy Limits and Deductibles have always been considerations.

Credit History and Rating have long been lesser-known factors that influence your auto insurance premium amount. Other lesser-known factors include:

1. # of miles driven each year.
2. Your/Spouse's occupation.
3. Your/Spouse's level of education.
4. Driver and household info. (all drivers in household, ages, etc.)
5. Vehicle purchased New or Used?
6. Your residence location & where vehicle is kept when not used.
7. How the vehicle is used - For any business, ride-sharing, etc.?
8. Marital Status
9. Child's grades.
10. Child's residency - Home or Away/At College/Split residency.
11. Is your home owned or rented?

We recommend having at least $ 250,000 in Bodily Injury coverage.
Maine's minimum requirement is $ 50,000 and the standard is $ 100,000. These limits are per-person. More about policy coverage per incident in a later post.

And never purchase Auto Insurance based solely on price. The Insurance Co. matters too.

DID YOU KNOW?...

Maine now allows for sealing of the records of certain eligible criminal convictions, including:

A. ANY Class E Crime (except if a sex-crime); AND

B. Ma*****na Crimes committed prior to Jan. 30, 2017, for:

Aggravated Trafficking or Aggravated Cultivating (including felonies under limited circumstances), or Unlawful Possession of Ma*****na if the underlying crime was a Class D (misdemeanor).

There are some limited exceptions, but this is good news for those with otherwise clean records and a low-level conviction or marijuana-related crime.
