A wonderful win for TDA Immigration and Student Services this week.
Many couples come to New Zealand to work hard, contribute to our communities, and build a better future. Sometimes, while they are here, they receive the blessing of welcoming a child.
However, when circumstances change, families can face unexpected immigration challenges. A child born or living in New Zealand may not automatically qualify for a visa just because one parent is able to support a partnerβs visa.
This weekβs approval was a great result for one of our families, and an important reminder:
Just because your visa allows you to support your partner, it does not always mean you can support a child. The rules can be different for partners and dependent children.
If your family circumstances have changed, especially if you have had a baby while in New Zealand, it is important to get advice early so your child can remain lawful in New Zealand.
At TDA Immigration and Student Services, we are here to help families understand their options and move forward with confidence.
