📢 IMPORTANT UPDATE: New Zealand Student Visa Changes 🇳🇿
Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has introduced four changes to student visa rules, effective 27 October 2026.
🔹 Student Work Rights: Master’s-by-research students will no longer have unlimited in-study work rights. The same work conditions will apply to all master’s students, including up to 25 hours of work per week during study and full-time work during scheduled holidays, subject to visa conditions.
🔹 English Language Ability: English proficiency is explicitly recognised as an important factor when assessing students’ ability to meet their visa conditions.
🔹 Visa Processing:INZ can formally suspend student visa processing in a wider range of circumstances, including while an education provider’s non-compliance is being determined.
🔹 More Time After Study: For visas with expiry dates based on the course end date, the period is extended from one month to two months. The 31 March expiry date remains unchanged.
