We may live here in British Columbia, thousands of kilometres from where the events of September 11 unfolded, but the impact of that day was never confined by a border.

25 years later, we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders who showed extraordinary courage.

We also remember how communities came together in the days that followed.

Today, we pause o honour all those whose lives were forever changed on September 11, 2001.

August brought another shift in the Fraser Valley housing market and depending on what you’re buying or selling, the numbers tell a slightly different story.

Overall, the Fraser Valley remains in buyer’s market territory, with 941 sales, 9,787 active listings and a sales-to-active listings ratio of 10%. Inventory is still 33% above the 10-year seasonal average, giving buyers more time, more choice and, in some cases, more room to negotiate.

But when we break it down by property type, the picture gets more interesting:

🏠 Detached: 332 sales + 3,281 active listings = 10.1% ratio (buyer’s market)

🏘️ Townhomes: 244 sales + 1,579 active listings = 15.5% ratio (balanced market)

🏢 Condos: 234 sales + 2,148 active listings = 10.9% ratio (buyer’s market)

That’s exactly why a headline like “It’s a buyer’s market” only tells you so much.

Your property type, neighbourhood, price range and personal circumstances all matter when deciding what to do next.

Happy Labour Day!

Today is more than the unofficial end of summer and one last long weekend before fall routines begin and back to school

Labour Day is a day to recognize the contributions of workers and the labour movement and the generations of people who advocated for things many of us now consider a normal part of working life, including fairer wages, safer workplaces and reasonable working hours.

It’s also a chance to appreciate the people whose work keeps our communities moving every day, from small business owners and tradespeople to healthcare workers, educators, service workers, first responders and so many others.

However you’re spending the long weekend, we hope you have the opportunity to slow down, enjoy some time with the people you love and soak up the last days of summer.
