Your estate plan and the value of your assets will become public record. Estate planning involves assets and various forms of ownership & titling of those assets. There are many issues to consider when planning an estate including: how assets will be managed, when certain assets will be transferred to others, and to whom those assets will pass. In the case of families with minor children estate planning addresses more than the handling of assets as the needs of the minors take precedence. Often times, through the establishment of a living trust, the downsides of probate can be avoided and a long-term plan for the family can be put into place. CA Bar # 183059

Sometimes the best feedback is the kind you weren't expecting.

A client came in recently to update his estate plan and shared something with me on his way out that made my day. His daughter then told me that every time they leave my office, he talks about what a nice experience it was.

I genuinely enjoy what I do and the relationships I've built with my clients and their families over the years.

When going to the office still feels like something to look forward to, retirement can wait.

A little legal history from Cleveland, Ohio.

Standing at 2nd St. and Lakeside, where the events behind Terry v. Ohio began. The landmark U.S. Supreme Court case addressed when a police officer may stop and frisk someone based on reasonable suspicion.

Pretty interesting to see the location connected to a case that has had such a lasting impact on American law.

Dropping a child off at college comes with a long checklist, but powers of attorney may not be on it.

Once your child turns 18, it's worth discussing which documents should be in place in case a parent ever needs to step in and help.
