IMPORTANT GREEN CARD UPDATE 🚨

USCIS has changed its guidance for the new Form I-864, the form used by many financial sponsors.

You can continue using the previous version through September 30, 2026. Beginning October 1, you must use the new edition dated 08/24/26. Using an older version after that date could delay your case.

The new form also gives USCIS permission to request information about the sponsor from consumer reporting agencies.

Before filing, always check that you are using the correct version of every form.

This Labor Day, we recognize the hard work and contributions of workers who help our families, businesses, and communities move forward, including the countless immigrants whose dedication is an essential part of this country.

In observance of the holiday, our office will be closed on Monday, September 7. We’ll return to our regular business hours on Tuesday, September 8.

We hope everyone has a safe and restful Labor Day! 💕

MAJOR UPDATE FOR GREEN CARD APPLICANTS 🚨

As of August 31, 2026, USCIS requires the new 08/24/26 edition of Form I-864, with no grace period. If you submit the previous edition, USCIS will not accept or process it.

The updated form also allows USCIS to request information about the sponsor from consumer reporting agencies. This does not mean every sponsor will automatically receive a credit check.

Before filing, confirm that you have the correct form and respond quickly if USCIS asks your sponsor to release a credit freeze.

Still waiting for your 10-year green card? You may not have to wait to apply for U.S. citizenship.

If you received a two-year conditional green card through marriage, make sure you file Form I-751 to remove the conditions on time. If you have been a permanent resident for three years, remain married to and living with your U.S. citizen spouse, and meet all other requirements, you may be eligible to apply for citizenship even if your I-751 is still pending.

Every immigration case is different, so make sure your full history is reviewed before applying. Give us a call to discuss your options.
