If someone slaps your girlfriend and walks away.
Unfortunately, you can’t chase them down and retaliate later.

My client chopped off an arm with a machete.
We got the case dismissed! Turns out the “victim” was a repeat offender, even bear-macing my client.
Sometimes, the truth cuts deeper than a machete.
Case closed!

Our client was facing 10 to 15 years in prison. He came to us because we were able to help a good friend of his previously. He was hoping for the same kind of help and he got it. After receiving a plea with significant prison time, Jamaar worked the case for trial. He left court with probation and is able to continue on his new path of health and success.

Jamaar Williams share message about our current justice system. It’s easy to think that justice is always fair. In this day and age, that’s not always the case.
We need to be aware of things like “prosecutorial discretion” and “selective prosecution.” This means law enforcement agencies sometimes make decisions based on political affiliations or even personal prejudices, rather than strictly on the facts. It’s crucial to understand this dynamic.
We have to keep a close eye on these issues. Times are tough, and being informed about how the system truly operates is key to protecting ourselves.
Stay vigilant and know your rights!

Disagreements happen at home, but in Arizona, domestic disputes carry severe legal consequences.
If an argument physical with someone you live with, it quickly becomes a Domestic Violence charge. If physical injury occurs, the state can instantly stack Aggravated Felony charges on top of it.
The Reality of Self-Defense:
Under Arizona law, you are only legally permitted to use reasonable force to protect yourself. If
prosecutors decide your reaction went beyond what was "reasonable,” you could face mandatory prison
time.
If you are facing domestic violence allegations or need an aggressive defense strategy to clear your
name, our trial team is ready to step in.

Ever wondered when it’s legally okay to throw a punch?
If someone slaps you, you can hit them back, but only if you still feel immediately threatened. If they walk away and the threat is gone, you can’t pursue them.
Same goes for spitting. It’s super disrespectful, but physical retaliation is only justified if you believe more force is coming your way.
Got a gun pointed at you?
Absolutely, defend yourself with reasonable force!
Yelling and name-calling?
Gotta be the adult here. Step back, because verbal abuse alone isn’t grounds for physical violence unless it’s clearly escalating to a physical threat.
Someone touches your wife inappropriately?
While your gut reaction might be to react, legally, you need to show there was an *immediate* threat or violent act *in that moment* to claim self-defense.
If someone’s stealing property “in your property”, you can use reasonable force to stop them. But if they’ve already taken off down the street, you shouldn’t chase them down and assault them.
Always take a step back and think before you act!
