University of Miami Moot Court Board We are a student-run, honorary organization that focuses on recruiting and training the finest oral and written advocates in the country. Gaubatz Competition.

As the oldest, largest, and most prestigious advocacy program at UM Law, the Board extends new membership invitations to the top 25 advocates in the second-year class, determined solely by performance in the annual John T. The Board also extends invitations to exceptional members of the third-year class competing in the Gaubatz Competition on a case-by-case basis. With the support of the University of Miami School of Law, as well as local and national alumni, the Charles C. Papy, Jr. Moot Court Board will continue to encourage excellence in oral and written advocacy on campus and around the nation. Registration for the 2017 John T. Gaubatz Competition is no open! The competition will be held on October 14-15, culminating in a public final round on October 17, 2017.

Gaby Rivera, a 2026 graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law, said moot court helped sharpen her legal writing, strengthen her ability to think on her feet and build examples she can draw on in job interviews.
