Members of the Kitch Mt. Clemens office had a great time connecting with colleagues and industry peers at the Association of Defense Trial Counsel (ADTC) annual Membership Meeting last night at Maggiano’s in Troy.

They had the pleasure of hearing from Mike Kramer of the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association (MCCA), who gave an insightful presentation on navigating and working effectively with the MCCA on No-Fault/PIP cases. Ralph Valitutti has been selected as a featured presenter for the Central Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (CAOG) 93rd Annual Meeting in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic which will take place on October 21-24, 2026.

Barbara A. Martin was recently honored as part of the Michigan Lawyers Weekly 2026 Class of Influential Women of Law. Her outstanding achievements and leadership were celebrated at an official awards luncheon on September 18 at The Mint at Michigan First Conference Center in Lathrup Village.

Congratulations to Joslyn Iafrate, Maha Zeidan, and Katharine Gostek on securing summary judgment in favor of their client in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. The case involved allegations that the defendant hospital and its providers improperly conducted and documented a behavioral health evaluation, failed to accommodate the patient’s disabilities, provided inadequate medical care, and violated the patient’s constitutional rights. Plaintiff asserted claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act, EMTALA, and the Fourteenth Amendment, as well as a state-law medical malpractice claim, and sought $13 million in damages. The defense moved for summary judgment on all claims, demonstrating that the federal claims failed as a matter of law and that Plaintiff lacked the evidence necessary to sustain his claims, including the requisite support for his medical malpractice allegations. The Court adopted the Magistrate Judge’s recommendation and granted the defendant hospital’s Motion for Summary Judgment in full, dismissing all claims.
