Deer hunters reminded orange is required by law!
With deer season starting up soon, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is reminding hunters that fluorescent orange is not only an important safety practice, but it’s required by law.

While some hunters are concerned that deer will be alerted to their presence if they wear hunter orange, research into deer vision indicates that while deer see color, they don’t see it the way most humans do.

Deer are essentially red-green color blind, meaning that red, green and orange all look about the same to a deer. Hunter orange does not look much different to a deer than the various shades of green clothing many hunters wear.

🚲💥 E-bike crash question... answered!

If a car hits you and you and your bike are down on the ground, should you move your bike or leave everything for evidence?

Here’s what to do if you can:
✅ Take pictures of the car and your bike first (before moving anything) to help preserve evidence.
✅ If it’s safe, move out of the roadway immediately so you don’t get run over by oncoming cars or other bikes.
✅ Have the driver turn on hazard lights and call 911 right away.

Watch out for deer in headlights!
When a deer causes a crash, the driver is usually treated as responding to an unavoidable emergency. In most cases, you can’t sue the state or an animal owner for the direct deer collision, and hitting the deer is generally not considered negligence.

BUT if someone swerves recklessly (like into oncoming traffic) and causes a secondary crash, liability may apply. 😬

Passengers: usually can’t sue unless the driver was independently negligent, like speeding, texting, or not paying attention.
