Friday evening the Grosse Tete–Rosedale Fire Department managed to surprise a man who is very hard to surprise. Chief Danny “Duck” Gantt walked in expecting an ordinary night and walked into a room full of the people he has spent half a century showing up for.

Fifty-plus years. Fires, wrecks, floods, storms, and every call in between — most of them in the middle of the night, none of them for the recognition. He built a department, trained the people who will carry it, and never made it about himself.

Our firm has the privilege of serving as counsel to the Village of Grosse Tete, and we were honored to be included.

Thank you, Chief. Enjoy every bit of it. The department is in good hands because of you.

NEW ORLEANS — Following Monday’s disqualification from running for the Division D judgeship in the 23rd Judicial District, attorneys representing incumbent Judge Steven Tureau are appealing for his name to stay on the ballot and for the case to be heard by the Louisiana Supreme Court.

Today is National Dog Day, which means it’s officially Bo**ré’s day — though if you ask him, every day at 660 St. Ferdinand is.

Bo**ré has been with the firm since he could fit in a Bankers Box, and he takes his responsibilities seriously: morning greetings, quality control on every pup cup that comes through the door, supervising desks that clearly need supervising, and napping through our longest conference calls.

He bills zero hours, settles for belly rubs, and has never lost an argument in this office.

Happy National Dog Day from all of us at Marionneaux Law Firm — and from the hardest-working golden in Baton Rouge!

Judges are chosen at the ballot box, not in courtrooms. Yesterday the court agreed — after an expedited trial, the challenge to Judge Steven Tureau’s candidacy was rejected, and he remains on the November ballot for the 23rd JDC.

Thank you, Judge Tureau, for trusting us with your defense when it mattered most. The voters will take it from here.

Proud to have represented Judge Tureau in this expedited trial today. The people of the community decide who sits as their judge — not some lawyer with a lawsuit. The ballot stays with the voters, where it belongs!

BREAKING I-TEAM: Judge rules in favor of sitting Ascension Parish judge whose candidacy was challenged in lawsuit.

Please join us in welcoming Josh Slaughter to the firm as our newest law clerk.

Josh is entering his second year at the Southern University Law Center, where he took home a mock trial win — a good sign of things to come. We’re excited to watch what he does, in law school and well beyond it.

Welcome aboard, Josh!

Concrete settles - So did they!

A concrete chute left protruding nearly ten feet into the roadway — no warning signs, no flags, no flagman. Our client paid for it with his spine: multiple surgeries, a spinal cord stimulator, and years of pain management.

The defense pointed the finger everywhere but at their own driver, so we picked a jury. Three days into trial in the 19th JDC in Baton Rouge, the case resolved for $3,409,000 — securing the lifetime of medical care our client will need.

Thank you to our trial team and co-counsel Brian Shearman and Brandon Shearman of Shearman & Denenea for the fight!
