Do you know the new road rules?

Four new road rules came into force on 1 October. Here's what's changed before you find out the hard way.

🚴‍♀ Leave at least a 1.5m gap when you pass any road user who isn't in a motor vehicle, such as cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders.

🚍 On roads of 60 km/h or less, give way to a bus signalling to pull out.

🛴 E-scooter riders can use cycle lanes; turning drivers must check for them.

🚴‍♀️🚴 Children 12 and under can ride on footpaths, and a parent or caregiver can ride alongside them.

And if you have staff who drive for work, brief them on the new changes.

What happens if bad weather means there’s no work for your employees?

You can do what you want with your assets when you die, right? Wrong. Sufficient provision must be made in your will for certain members of your family, or else you may subject your estate to a court case.

⚽ Last weekend Old Boys AFC held its fourth Annual Junior Football Festival, at the Waverley Park club grounds and Star Rugby Club. PRLaw was again a field sponsor.

PRLaw Associate Ange MacKenzie, Vice President of Old Boys AFC, said that 87 teams from 8th grade to 15th/16th grade from Southland, Otago, and Central Otago braved the mucky, windy, wet conditions on Saturday and Sunday and had an absolute blast! They were fuelled by Mr Whippy, Paddy's Pretzels and a sausage sizzle, while the parents were able to enjoy pregame coffee from The Shot and postgame beverages at Star Rugby Club.

This event takes months of planning but is worth it — despite the conditions, the place was buzzing, with kids enjoying their footy and the opportunity to play out-of-town clubs, and already looking forward to next year!
