We were proud to support The Salvation Army at their recent Community Wills Day in Camberwell!

A big shout-out to our lawyer James Sexton, who generously gave his time to help attendees prepare their Wills. James’ friendly and professional approach didn’t go unnoticed, one attendee shared:

“The young lawyer I spoke to was charming… my sincere thanks for the helpful, caring attention given to me during the interview and assistance with drafting a Will.” – Madge H

Thanks to the incredible support from the community and volunteers, the event raised $13,705, with 97 Wills completed and nine attendees choosing to include a gift in their Will, including one amazing $100,000 bequest!

These contributions will directly support local people in crisis through emergency food parcels, housing assistance, and other life-changing programs.

Special thanks to Barry Muaror, Relationship Manager – Gift in Wills VIC, for his leadership and continued dedication to making these events a success.

We’re grateful for the chance to be involved and look forward to supporting more events like this in the future!

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day – Sunday 15 June 2025

Next Sunday marks World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, a time to speak up about an issue that too often stays hidden.

Elder abuse can take many forms - from financial exploitation to emotional harm, neglect or isolation. It’s more common than many people realise, and it can happen to anyone.

At HOCW, we’re committed to helping protect the rights and dignity of older Australians. Through thoughtful estate planning and elder law advice, we work with individuals and families to put legal safeguards in place and support long-term wellbeing.

Let’s use this day to raise awareness, have honest conversations, and stand up for the safety and respect of older members of our community.
