I currently serve as deputy court administrator for the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court for Oakland County, Michigan. For over 20 years, I have worked within the court advising judges on the law and legal process.

I know how to run a courtroom from the bench perspective. I know how to judge credibility, receive facts into evidence, how to apply the law to those facts, and how to render decisions timely.

I am trusted by judges and court staff alike because I care. I care about people, the rule of law, constitutional protections, and common sense.

I am running for the district court judge in my hometown of 37 years to bring my circuit court experience to the Waterford bench.

I know what it takes to be a great judge. And, I have what it takes to be a great judge.

When people think of judges, they think crime and punishment. However, being a judge is more than presiding over criminal cases. Our judicial branch of government is where people go to resolve disputes peacefully. District court cases are comprised of:

1. misdemeanors (crimes where the punishment is 1 year or less in county jail);

2. civil actions where the amount in dispute is $25,000 or less;

3. landlord/tenant actions;

4. small claims - civil actions where the amount in dispute is $7,000 or less;

5. Code/zoning enforcement; and

6. Civil Infractions (e.g. traffic violations)

In 2025, Waterford District court handled more civil actions than criminal actions by a hefty margin. And only 3 jury trials - all civil jury trials.*

Waterford District having more civil cases makes sense because Waterford Township has two major roadways (Dixie Hwy and M-59) running through it. It also has winding roads around our lakes. What this means is that there are many civil disputes arising from auto accidents. My background as a paralegal (assisting lawyers in litigation) was in personal injury cases, auto negligence and medical malpractice. I know how to prepare for and how to resolve civil cases.

Landlord/Tenant cases. I was a tenant. I was landlord for 9 years. I understand both sides of those issues.

Other civil cases that come before the district court involve neighborhood disputes. People who find themselves in disagreements for which they never expected to need a judge to intervene. I understand the emotions involved in those matters. My 10-year background as a staff attorney in the family division of circuit court has prepared me to handle highly emotional cases which are often litigated without lawyers.

Experience does matter. My 24-years of experience is from the court/judiciary/bench perspective.
