PDS offices will close at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, and remain closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day.
The D.C. Courts will operate on a holiday schedule on September 7, except for Adult Arraignment Court (C-10), Juvenile New Referral Court (JM-15), and scheduled preventive detention hearing courtrooms.
Observed annually on the first Monday in September, Labor Day honors the contributions and achievements of American workers. The holiday grew out of the late 19th-century labor movement and recognizes the essential role workers have played in our nation’s strength, prosperity, and well-being.
This Labor Day, we extend our heartfelt thanks to our staff, interns, law clerks, alumni, and Board members for your dedication to our mission and to the clients we serve. We are grateful for all that you do to advance justice and strengthen public defense.
Wishing everyone a safe and restful Labor Day weekend!
