Last week, I attended a special court session where over 600 people were naturalized. While most ceremonies are done administratively at the local USCIS offices, they still hold judicial ceremonies several times a year. Included in this past ceremony was an amazing person who I was able to help on her journey to becoming a U.S. citizen. It was my honor to be part of the journey. I continue to enjoy attending my clients’ naturalization ceremonies. There is such joy and a sense of accomplishment seeing my clients get sworn in and seeing them receive their naturalization certificates. Happy 4th of July! My clients who want to naturalize need to study 100 civics questions as part of the naturalization test. One question is: When was the Declaration of Independence adopted? Answer: July 4, 1776. Happy Independence Day!

While I am a solo practitioner, I do not do everything on my own. One person who I speak with often is fellow immigration attorney and great friend, Ronald Nguyen. We’ve had countless conversations on USCIS, the Department of State, visas, citizenship, green cards, anything immigration-related, and other non-immigration nerd stuff. It was great to see earlier this week. I truly believe he is one of the best immigration attorneys in Kansas City.
