I asked ChatGPT what to do after a car accident, and the advice it gave me was flat-out wrong.

It told me I could handle my own claim and get an attorney later through something called "limited scope representation." One problem: that doesn't exist in personal injury cases. By the time you'd need an attorney under that advice, you've already missed proper treatment, documentation, and said the wrong things to the adjuster.

In this video, I break down exactly what ChatGPT got wrong, plus a real case that just came across my desk: a mother who tried to settle her child's injury claim without an attorney, not realizing California courts can't approve a minor's settlement without one. Now she can't find an attorney willing to help, because doing so would mean signing off on a case they were never part of.

AI can be a great research tool, but it's not a substitute for legal advice. Watch the full video below. 👇

You feel fine right after an accident. That's actually the problem.

Adrenaline can mask pain for hours, even days. So people skip the ER, skip the doctor, and go home thinking they're okay.

Then a few days later, the real pain shows up, neck pain, back pain, headaches that won't quit.

By then, the adjuster has one question ready: "Why did you wait to see a doctor?" And they'll use that gap to argue something else caused your injury, not the accident.

My advice: get checked out within 24 to 48 hours of an accident, even if you feel completely fine. It protects your health and your claim.

Already past that window? It's not necessarily too late. Call us for a free consultation.

I used to work for the insurance companies.

Nearly a decade on the defense side before I switched to representing injured people, and I saw firsthand what adjusters do the moment a claim comes in. One of the first things they check? Your social media.

Here are 3 posts that can quietly hurt your claim:

✅ The "feeling great" post: a gym or vacation photo gets used to argue you're not really hurt
✅ The check-in: a location tag can be used to dispute your timeline or account of the accident
✅ The vent post: comments about the crash can get quoted back to minimize your claim

My advice: assume every adjuster is watching. Lock down your privacy settings, and hold off posting about the accident or your recovery until your case is resolved.

Should you call the other driver’s insurance company after a car accident?

Reporting the collision is one thing, but giving the adjuster a detailed or recorded statement can create problems for your injury claim.

In this video, I explain why the other driver’s insurance company does not represent you, how seemingly innocent comments may later be used against you, and what you should consider before signing any authorization, release, or settlement agreement.

If another driver caused your accident, you might assume their insurance company will simply pay everything you are owed, but the process is rarely that straightforward.

The adjuster may dispute fault, question your injuries, request a recorded statement, or rely on the driver’s policy limits to restrict your recovery.

In this video, I explain how at-fault insurance claims work and when your own uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage may become important.

After a car accident, make sure every healthcare provider you see knows about the collision and all the symptoms you are experiencing, even if you are seeing that provider for an unrelated reason.

Insurance companies compare medical records and look for inconsistencies, such as neck pain reported to one doctor but not another. In this video, I explain how incomplete symptom reporting can give the insurance company an argument against your personal injury claim, and what you should tell your doctors after an accident.

After a vehicle accident, everyone involved may remember what happened differently.

Important details can be missed. Accounts can conflict. Stories can change.

A dash cam provides an objective record of the moments that matter. Its footage may help establish fault, support an insurance claim, and challenge an inaccurate account of the accident.

A small investment in a dash cam can provide valuable evidence, and greater peace of mind, when the facts matter most.

Stories can change. The camera remembers.

One Crash. Three Mistakes That Could Damage Your Injury Claim.

Avoid these three common mistakes:

1. Admitting fault or guessing about what happened. Exchange information, but stick to the facts.
2. Failing to document the scene. Photograph the vehicles, road conditions, visible injuries, and insurance information.
3. Delaying appropriate medical care. A treatment gap may give the insurance company grounds to dispute your injuries.

Protect your health, preserve the evidence, and understand your options.

What happens after you’ve been injured in an accident—and how does a personal injury claim actually move toward settlement?

In my webinar, “Personal Injury Claim Process: From Accident to Settlement,” I walk through the process step by step, including what to do immediately after an accident, the importance of medical treatment and documentation, how insurance companies investigate claims, what goes into a settlement demand, and how negotiations work.

Before founding The Mason Law Firm, I spent nearly ten years representing defendants and insurance companies. That experience allows me to explain the claims process from both sides and highlight the issues insurance adjusters consider when evaluating a case.

If you have been injured in a car accident, slip and fall, dog bite, or another incident, this webinar can help you understand what to expect, and what mistakes to avoid.
