Cheers! 🍻 We can't let today pass without noting it is a very important "this day in history." On December 5, 1933, the 21st Amendment to the US Constitution was ratified by the required number of states, and became effective. It repealed the 18th Amendment, thus ending Prohibition, and gave each of the states near-total authority to regulate alcohol within the state.

We form a lot of business entities for our clients, and sometimes they use our office as registered agent. That means we get junk mail for those businesses. One that bothers me the most is this scam. The official-looking letter comes in the mail, and the website is sometimes linked from a QR code. For people who get these in their personal mail and don't realize this is a scam, they may end up paying this place nearly $400 for items that you can get yourself online, in just a few minutes, for a *total* of $5. Links below:

A Certificate of Existence from the Montana Secretary of State is the only one that costs anything, and it's only $5:

Apparently there's an important football game happening here in Montana... 😉 🏈
I will take the opportunity to re-post a photo taken way back in 1896. I love Missoula, but I come from a very, very, VERY long line of Bobcats. The four people in this photo are the first graduating class of what we now know as Montana State University, in Bozeman. The tall man in the back is my (Michael's) great-great-grandfather, Oliver Morgan.

And I (Michael) am particularly grateful to Jessica, whose insight, dedication, wisdom, and friendship are priceless.

I (Michael) want to acknowledge Jessica this week. It was ten years ago that she moved back to Missoula, and we started working together on a near-daily basis. First at our prior firm, and then for that past almost seven years at Lawlor & Co. I couldn't ask for a better colleague and friend, and I am very grateful.
