Poor housing doesn't just affect where people live. It affects how they breathe.
We're grateful to have contributed to Breathless, Courier Journal's powerful series examining asthma's impact on Kentucky families. Too often, we see mold, leaks, pests, and other unsafe housing conditions contributing to serious health problems for our clients. Safe, stable housing is a health issue, and access to justice is part of the solution.

Our Shelbyville office is doing amazing work serving Kentuckians across Shelby, Henry, Oldham, Trimble, Spencer, and Bullitt Counties.

Meet our incredible team: Attorney Euva May, Paralegal Brittany Smith, and Managing Attorney Beth Robinson, pictured with Executive Director John Young at the Shelby County Community Foundation Grant Award Ceremony in September.

Together, they are making a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors. In the first three quarters of 2026, the Shelbyville team has provided legal representation to 159 clients across this region of our service area.

October is National Pro Bono Month ⚖️

We're celebrating the attorneys who use their skills to help open doors to opportunity.

At our September 11 Expungement Clinic, volunteers from across the legal community helped Kentuckians pursue a fresh start, including Rep. Morgan McGarvey, who volunteered to assist a client seeking expungement.

Now we're looking ahead to our October 27 Grayson County Expungement Clinic with the United Way of Central Kentuckyand the Grayson County Chamber of Commerce.

Last Friday's Journey to Justice was a beautiful reminder of the power of community. At the Muhammad Ali Center on September 25th, we honored Bart Greenwald's extraordinary life and legacy with the Humana Spirit of Justice Award, heard Anthony Smith's moving reflections on our common humanity, and witnessed the power of storytelling to bring people together. Thanks to an anonymous $10,000 matching challenge and the incredible generosity in the room, more than $25,000 was raised in just 30 minutes in Bart's honor. We are deeply grateful to the community Legal Aid has proudly called home for more than 100 years for making equal justice a reality!

Legal Aid Society Pro Se Divorce Clinics provide low-income Kentuckians with the legal help they need to file for divorce on their own. Clients will receive the forms they need based on their individual situations, assistance in completing the forms, and directions on how to file with the Court.
This clinic is an ESL Pro Se Divorce Clinic. Attorneys will assist non-English speaking clients with Pro Se Divorce paperwork.
Clients MUST be registered, invited to attend, and be income-eligible for Legal Aid’s services. To register, contact our Intake Department at (502) 584-1254.
