The Paul Powell Law Firm

The Paul Powell Law Firm Paul started The Paul Powell Law Firm to provide injury victims with more money than their attorney after their case settles, and we put it in writing. PAUL.
(209)

More Lawyer. Less Fee. Recognized in both Nevada and on a national level, Paul is considered a preeminent trial lawyer with a reputation for turning difficult cases into substantial jury verdicts. On numerous verdicts over $1 Million, Paul’s clients were offered less than $50,000 before the trial started. His trial methods are straight forward — to effectively communicate accident-causing difficul

ties faced by his client — while helping jurors understand how defense strategies are designed to distort facts and to shame and embarrass accident victims. Over the past 15 years, Paul’s beliefs have routinely leveled the playing field against the insurance companies and large corporations that caused his clients’ injuries. In the last decade alone, Paul has settled cases and collected trial verdicts of nearly $175 Million. During this time, he settled more than 50 cases in excess of $1 Million.
“Lawyers are often judged by results, but it is much more than just the results that matter,” Paul said. “People matter most. I hope what I do changes lives. I meet clients that are hurt every day. It can be heartbreaking and humbling. Life can change in the blink of an eye. It makes me appreciate the opportunity to protect people and to help them through a time of crisis. I hope my clients will say I was always there when they needed me most. I think you can be a tough lawyer and fight for what is right. But you can also be a compassionate and empathetic lawyer. That is my goal every day.”
Paul was born in a small town in upstate Illinois. His family has owned the same Illinois farm since the Civil War. When Paul was still young, his dad joined the Navy and the family moved to California where Paul grew up. Paul eventually graduated with High Honors from Idaho State University (1992-1996). During college, Paul raised a family of his own, coached high school football, and was a writer for the local newspaper. He then attended law school at the University of Idaho where he was a published member of the Idaho Law Review (1997-2000). After graduating from law school, Paul clerked for the Honorable Myron Leavitt, of the Supreme Court of Nevada. He then went on to work for the Las Vegas commercial litigation firm, Lionel Sawyer and Collins. Paul is married with five children. His oldest son attends law school at the University of Santa Clara. Paul, and his wife, Kristen are actively involved in numerous charitable organizations, including serving as Partners in Hope with St. Jude Hospital. A portion of each settlement from The Powell Law Firm is donated to St. Jude to help children in their fight against cancer. Paul has been recognized by numerous publications for his skill as a trial lawyer. Recently, he was listed among “The Top 100” by the National Trial Lawyers Association. He is a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. And he is a member of several trial organizations and bar associations, both in Nevada, Illinois, and nationally.

Labor Day weekend is the unofficial last hurrah of Las Vegas resort pool season, and the Strip's dayclubs know it. Mandalay Bay Beach, the Fontainebleau's Oasis Pool, and pools across Clark County pack to capacity as guests try to squeeze the last drop of summer out of the long weekend. 🏊 Overwhelmed staff, spilled drinks on smooth tile, and guests who've been drinking since noon create the exact conditions where slip-and-falls happen.

If you were hurt at a resort pool this weekend, our team can help.

September's NFL opener brings more than 65,000 fans to Allegiant Stadium, plus hours of pre-game drinking at nearby bars and the stadium's Wynn Field Club. That means a lot of impaired fans — some of whom choose to drive. 🏈 Raiders game day DUI crashes are common after a home opener, and these cases move fast: surveillance footage has short retention windows, and the insurer starts working to limit their exposure immediately. If you were hurt by a drunk driver on game day, our team moves faster.

Labor Day weekend means packed barbecue areas at Sunset Regional Park, backyard cookouts across the valley, and community fire pit events throughout Clark County. 🔥 When a propane tank regulator fails without warning or a fire pit is left in a dangerous state of disrepair, the resulting burns can be severe enough to land someone at UMC's Lions Burn Care Center for weeks. Our team knows how to pursue compensation from negligent property owners and defective product manufacturers alike.

🏍️ Motorcyclists face unique risks on Las Vegas roads — and a few smart habits can go a long way. Always wear a DOT-approved helmet, choose bright or reflective gear, stay visible in blind spots, and ride defensively, especially during peak traffic hours. Riders deserve the same respect and safety on the road as any other driver — and if that's ever compromised, we're here to help.

❓ FAQ Friday: "Should I talk to the insurance company before calling a lawyer?" Great question — and one we hear often. Insurance adjusters are trained to settle claims quickly and for as little as possible, often before you know the full extent of your injuries or costs. It's always wise to understand your rights first. A quick conversation with an attorney costs you nothing but could protect you significantly.

When an accident or medical mistake causes a life-altering injury, the consequences can extend far beyond the initial hospitalization. A victim may lose the ability to work, walk, communicate, care for themselves, or take part in the activities that once defined daily life. Understanding Nevada's catastrophic injury definition can be an important part of pursuing fair compensation. Our team knows these cases require a different level of preparation than a temporary injury claim — and we've put together a helpful guide to walk you through it. 🚛 Big rigs share the road with all of us here in Las Vegas, and a few habits can help keep everyone safe. Stay out of a truck's blind spots — if you can't see the driver's mirrors, they can't see you — give trucks extra room to turn and brake, and never cut in front of one closely. Trucks take longer to stop, so a little extra caution and patience protects everyone on the road.

St. Rose Parkway cuts through some of Henderson's fastest-growing neighborhoods, connecting Inspirada and Seven Hills to the I-215 beltway and funneling thousands of commuters past busy casino and retail corridors every day. Late summer makes it worse — back-to-school traffic stacks up near high school zones, tire blowouts spike in 115-degree heat, and drivers running late push speed limits in ways that turn a rear-end collision into a catastrophic crash. 🚗 If a St. Rose Parkway accident has left you hurt and facing a wall of medical bills, our team is ready to take on the insurance company for you.
