Nevada summers and backyard pools go hand in hand. Most of the time, it’s all fun. However, drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death in children, and it happens faster than most parents expect. No splash, no sound, just a few seconds of distraction.

A few things every family should have in place this summer:

➡️ Fence or barrier with a self-latching gate around the pool
➡️ Designated adult watcher, not just someone nearby
➡️ Working pool alarms
➡️ CPR knowledge for at least one adult in the home

If tragedy strikes and a child is unnecessarily injured in a pool that was not properly secured or safety policies weren’t followed, whether the pool belongs to a hotel, community space, rental or community facility, the property owner and manager may be held responsible.

School is back in session for Clark County students and that means Nevada roads look different starting today.

Kids are walking, biking, and crossing streets near schools across the valley. Routines are new, drop-off lines are
busy, and drivers are still adjusting. That combination is exactly when preventable accidents happen.

Slow down near school zones. Watch for crossing guards. Give yourself an extra few minutes in the morning, because no one's schedule is worth a child's safety.

This summer, Brett Carter again lined up at the one of the Sawmill Ultra races at Mt. Charleston alongside runners from across the region and finished 5th on one of Nevada’s challenging mountain courses. One of the most common mistakes we see after an accident is signing documents before speaking with an
