So much of what people believe about workers' comp in Nevada just isn't accurate, and it keeps people from asking for help they're entitled to.

✅ Fault doesn't automatically block your claim because Nevada workers' comp is a no-fault system

October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, and our team got to mark it in the best way. We brought Pups & Cups Coffee Co. to the office for a midweek treat, and the line stretched all the way down the sidewalk.

Owner Jordan runs her coffee trailer with a bigger purpose. She donates to a local animal shelter every week, and her Adoptable Dogs of the Week board introduces customers to pups from local shelters who are still waiting for their families. Her motto says it all: sip a cup, save a pup.

Nowadays more than ever, we look over our shoulder walking to our car at night, unlocking our own front door, or checking into a hotel room. We try our best to remain safe. However, we have reasonable expectations that businesses, HOAs, property managers, and others will fulfill their legal duties to keep their premises safe from dangerous conditions and criminal activities. We trust they will exercise reasonable care to meet these obligations.

When that trust is broken, when someone gets hurt because a property owner or manager decided to cut corners, it's a betrayal. It's disrespect and indifference. Often, it's profits over safety. Examples include:

⚖️ A broken security gate that remained unrepaired for months
⚖️ A parking garage or stairwell left completely dark
⚖️ Complaints about suspicious activity that went ignored
⚖️ Turning a blind eye to criminals who prey on hotel and casino guests

If this happened to you or someone you love, you may be second-guessing every decision that led up to that day. Please hear this: It wasn't your fault. The property owner had a responsibility to protect you.

🔥 Test your smoke detectors and replace the batteries if it's been a while
🔥 Walk through your home and make sure exits stay clear
🔥 Renters and homeowners have a duty to exercise reasonable care to prevent fire that can damage not only their property, but all properties and people in the area
🔥 Landlords are legally required to keep smoke detectors working and exits safe

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and many of us have been personally touched and affected by this diagnosis.

On October 11, the Susan G. Komen Southern Nevada MORE THAN PINK Walk returns to South Las Vegas Boulevard, bringing together cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and supporters from across our community. Carter Cullen is proud to stand behind that mission.

Our efforts to support these individuals isn't something we set aside once October ends. It's something we carry with us all year, because so many of the families we work with are fighting battles no one else can see.

There's something about the shift into fall that feels like a reset, even here in Las Vegas where the seasons blur together more than most places.

Our team spent part of the weekend at the Candlelighters Superhero 5K, supporting the work Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada
does for our community. We joined the event as part of the Nevada Justice Association (NJA), alongside other members. A childhood cancer diagnosis affects everyone in a family, and Candlelighters is there for them with comfort, meaningful experiences, and practical help when life gets overwhelming.

Carter Cullen is honored to be part of that effort during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and we're grateful to everyone who came out to show their support.
