Several stores across Eastern North Carolina have been fined for overcharging customers.

Dollar General locations in Carteret, Craven, Hertford, Onslow and Pamlico counties were among those penalized. Family Dollar stores in New Bern and Rose Hill, along with a Publix in New Bern, also faced fines.

At one Family Dollar in New Bern, inspectors found 124 overcharges among 300 items checked — an error rate of more than 41%.

The fines come as NC Attorney General Jeff Jackson sues Dollar General over allegations of widespread overcharging.

Pasquotank County Launches New Vendor & Solicitation Portal!

Pasquotank County has launched PlanetBids, an online platform where vendors can register, receive notifications, and view current bid opportunities and solicitations.

Businesses interested in providing services to Pasquotank County can register for free to stay informed about upcoming projects, requests for bids/proposals, and other contracting opportunities.

Weston & Sampson is working with the Elizabeth City/Pasquotank County Parks and Recreation on a redesign and resilient masterplan for College Park. The project aims to design a transformation of the park’s deteriorating shoreline, while enhancing the waterfront with new opportunities for recreation, access, and community use.

There are a few opportunities for downtown business owners and citizens to learn more about and participate in the College Park project.

Weston & Sampson and ECPC Parks and Recreation will be participating in First Friday ArtWalk on 11/6. Prior to ArtWalk, they will host a guided walk at Charles Creek Park and other nearby parks beforehand at 3:00 p.m. to discuss ecological restoration and native plant identification (see flier).

They are also planning a design feedback event later in November to give the community an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed conceptual design. Additional details about that event will be shared.
