We closed the office early to celebrate the incredible team at Frost Law! ⚓️

Our employees are the driving force behind our success, and we wanted to show our appreciation for their hard work and dedication. To say "thank you," our team members boarded the Raven in Annapolis, MD, for a beautiful afternoon on the water, complete with great food, scenic views, and some well-deserved downtime.

Taking this time to connect and recharge is a wonderful reminder of how important it is to recognize the talented professionals who tirelessly advocate for our clients every single day. Thank you to everyone at Frost Law for all that you do!

Frost Law attorneys Heather Posey and Darius Liely were featured in CPA Practice Advisor on a Fourth Circuit decision every foreign account holder should know about. In United States v. Rund, a taxpayer who failed to report more than a dozen foreign accounts faced a civil penalty of nearly $3 million, and the court found the violations willful as a matter of law.

The lesson: In Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, the IRS does not need to prove intent to conceal. Reckless disregard of the FBAR requirement is enough to trigger a penalty of up to 50% of the account balance, per account, per year.

Heather Posey and Darius Liely share seven takeaways from the case, including why documenting professional advice is the single biggest factor in avoiding a willful penalty.

Frost Law features some heavy hitters who step up to the plate for clients, but our team enjoys baseball as well as tax and legal issues. Partner Jessica Marine had the good fortune to attend Game 4 of the World Series as she rooted for the Tampa Bay Rays in a dramatic, come-from-behind win against the Milwaukee Brewers in the 12th inning. This is familiar territory for Jessica; she always goes extra innings for her clients.

Frost Law Founding Partner Glen Frost spoke with The Daily Record about how Maryland attorneys are using AI in their practices. The article notes that 69% of U.S. legal professionals now use general-purpose AI tools for work, more than double the share from a year earlier.

He shared that Frost Law uses Claude Enterprise alongside AI tools built into Lexis and Bloomberg Tax. The approach has improved efficiency across administrative functions and helps attorneys stay current on new legislation, agency guidance, and court decisions. The firm has also established an internal Legal Innovation Committee to evaluate emerging technologies and provides ongoing AI training for attorneys and staff.

Like every attorney interviewed for the article, Glen Frost emphasized that AI output still requires careful human review.
