People often ask me why I became a family lawyer.
The truth is, it wasn’t a path I always expected to take.
During my articling year, I spent time working in corporate law and quickly realized something was missing. While I respected the work, I found myself wanting something more meaningful. I wanted to work directly with people. I wanted to build relationships. Most importantly, I wanted to feel like I was making a difference in someone’s life.
Family law gave me that opportunity.
Every file involves real people, real emotions, and real relationships. Behind every emails, phone call, court document etc is someone trying to navigate one of the most difficult periods of their life. People come to my office feeling overwhelmed, uncertain about the future, and often unsure of where to turn next.
One of the most rewarding parts of this profession is being able to provide reassurance, guidance, and a steady hand during those moments. There is something incredibly meaningful about helping someone find clarity when everything feels uncertain.
The moments that stay with me are not the court appearances or the legal victories. They are the conversations where a client finally feels heard. The relief on someone’s face when they understand their options. The moment when someone walks into my office feeling defeated and leaves with their head held a little higher, knowing there is a path forward.
For me, family law has never been just about resolving today’s dispute. It is about helping people create solutions that last and support healthier co-parenting relationships, financial stability, and a better future for their families.
At its core, family law is about people. That human element is what drew me to this practice, and it is what continues to motivate me every single day.
