ONTARIO IS PREPARING NEW OINP DRAWS
This is no longer just a rumour.
Ontario’s Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, David Piccini, confirmed that the province intends to conduct targeted OINP draws:
“Right now and in the very near future.”
This means that new rounds of invitations could take place soon.
The key focus will be targeted draws. Ontario plans to select candidates whose qualifications align with the province’s current labour market needs.
However, it is important to understand:
— No exact draw dates have been announced;
— The number of invitations remains unknown;
— Cut-off scores and priority occupations have not yet been published.
Any claims about specific dates or guaranteed categories are currently only speculation.
If you already have an OINP profile, now is the time to verify:
— The accuracy of the information in your EOI;
— Your NOC code and employment duties;
— Whether your wage meets the program requirements;
— Your employer information and job offer details;
— The expiry dates of your work permit and language test results.
After a lengthy period of uncertainty, OINP activity may soon resume. However, based on the Minister’s statement, Ontario appears likely to prioritize targeted rather than broad invitation rounds.
Follow for official updates. As soon as Ontario publishes the details of its next draw, I will explain who received invitations and what selection criteria were applied.
