Can I apply for an open work permit inside Canada?

Yes — but only if you fit one of the categories IRCC actually allows.

This includes spouses of students or workers, PGWP applicants, some PR family members, certain refugee groups, TRP holders, and inland sponsorship applicants.

You can’t apply just because you’re in Canada — you must qualify under one of these programs.”

In Canada, a criminal charge for a permanent resident is a serious issue that can have severe immigration consequences. The severity of the outcome depends on the nature of the offence, whether or not there is a conviction, and the eventual sentence, not just the charge itself.

Permanent residents who have been charged with a criminal offence in Canada should seek advice from an immigration lawyer immediately, in addition to their criminal defence lawyer.

Canada’s Express Entry system is prioritizing people in specific job categories — French speakers, healthcare and social services workers, STEM workers, trades, agri-food, and educators.

If you’re in one of these groups, your chance of being invited has increased.

Can your old social media posts get your immigration application refused?

Short answer: Yes.

When you apply for anything—from visitor visas to spousal sponsorships, study permits, work permits, or even refugee claims—immigration officers can and do review your publicly available social media.

Be proactive:

• Audit your social media presence

• Get legal advice before responding to any concerns from IRCC

Your online footprint is part of your immigration file—treat it like one.

If you want help reviewing your case or preparing a response, we can help.

⚖️ Ayodele Law – Protecting your path to Canada

Canada’s new Immigration Levels Plan is here — and it’s about more than numbers.

The focus is shifting toward economic growth and skilled talent — prioritizing those already in Canada with the skills and experience to fill key labour gaps.

For students, workers, and foreign nationals, this means one thing: strategy matters. Fewer temporary permits. More emphasis on strong, permanent pathways.

At Ayodele Law, we help skilled professionals, students, and families plan their next move — with clarity and confidence.

📞 Book a consultation to understand how these changes affect your future in Canada. We can be reached at +1 (647) 937-4330.

Our newly redesigned website for Ayodele Law is officially up and running: https://www.ayodelelaw.ca

This update is more than just a fresh look — it’s a reflection of where we’re taking the Ayodele Law brand in 2025 and beyond.

From late nights reworking content to refining how we tell our story, every part of the new site is built to better serve the people who trust us with their immigration journey — from sponsorships to appeals to permanent residency.

After 11+ years building my own immigration law practice, I’ve learned this isn’t a sprint — it’s a marathon. And we’re just getting started.

If you know someone who could use expert immigration guidance, feel free to send them our way :)
