Starting November 3, 2026, IRCC is introducing significant changes to how Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points are calculated.

Under the new rules:

• Eligible Canadian work experience in certain high-wage occupations may earn 20, 40 or 70 additional CRS points.
• Qualifying job offers may receive 50, 70 or 100 CRS points.
• An LMIA will no longer be required for qualifying job offers under Express Entry, although separate work permit requirements may still apply.

Importantly, these new points depend on the occupation's NOC classification, not your individual salary. Candidates will receive the higher score from eligible Canadian work experience or a qualifying job offer, not both.

What happens next?

IRCC will automatically recalculate existing Express Entry profiles and pause invitation rounds for up to two weeks while implementing the changes.

If you are already in the Express Entry pool, now is a good time to review your profile, particularly if you have a qualifying job offer that has not yet been included.

Express Entry draw for French-speaking candidates!

On October 16, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted Express Entry draw #450 and issued 5,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs), with a minimum CRS score of 435, under the French-language proficiency category.

This round followed the August 19 French-language draw, which also issued 5,000 invitations.

New Express Entry draw for Canadian Experience Class candidates!

On October 15, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted Express Entry draw #449 and issued 2,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs), with a minimum CRS score of 519, under the Canadian Experience Class.

Compared with the previous CEC draw on September 29, this round issued 500 more invitations, while the CRS cut-off increased by one point.

Express Entry draw for Trades Occupations.

On October 1, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted Express Entry draw #447 and issued 3,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) with a minimum CRS score of 476 under the Trades Occupations category.

This was the second Trades category draw of 2026, following the April 2 round.

Express Entry isn’t the only pathway worth watching.

September brought significant provincial immigration activity across Canada, with provinces targeting candidates in areas such as tech, healthcare, agriculture, manufacturing, childcare, construction, Francophone immigration and more.

Outside Quebec alone, provincial and territorial programs recorded at least 4,700 invitations and selections. Quebec also invited 500+ candidates through its own immigration system.

The right pathway depends on your profile, experience, language skills and circumstances.

Canadian Experience Class candidates were invited in today’s Express Entry draw.

On September 29, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 2,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to Canadian Experience Class candidates with a minimum CRS score of 518.

This was the third CEC-specific draw in September, with the CRS cut-off decreasing by one point from the September 15 draw.

Provincial nominees were invited in today’s Express Entry draw.

On September 28, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted Express Entry draw #445 and issued 733 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) with a minimum CRS score of 725 under the Provincial Nominee Program.

This follows the September 14 PNP-specific draw, when 576 ITAs were issued with a CRS cut-off of 734.
