I will be chairing an upcoming OBA webinar on the recent legislative changes to drinking and driving and driving with drugs. The webinar will be on April 23, 2019 from 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm and the panel will consist of:
-The Honourable Marcella Henschel, Ontario Court of Justice (Newmarket)
-James Palangio, Crown Counsel, Drugs and Driving Team Lead
-Peter Lindsay, Barrister.

I have previously described these changes as "the most substantial changes to drinking and driving since the original introduction of the Over 80 offence". It is vital that all Crowns and defence lawyers be familiar with the what has changed. This webinar will focus on bringing everyone up to speed on what they need to know.

Registration details can be found here: http://lists.oba.org/t/93598/3868410/52137/16/. The cost is $50 for OBA members and $95 for non-members. However, there are also group discounts: 10% off for a group of 2-4, 15% off of a group of 5-10, and 20% off for a group of 11 or more.

Some of the largest amendments to the Criminal Code on drinking and driving, and driving with drugs, recently came into force. It is crucial for Crown and defence counsel to be familiar with what has changed. Join our stellar faculty as they navigate the fundamental changes in this area of the law.....

The sentencing hearing for serial killer Bruce McArthur will get underway on Monday. And, as Adrian Ghobrial reports, the release of a detailed statement of facts may shed more light on the disturbing crimes the 67-year-old committed.
