As the number of cases of COVID-19 continue to rise around the world, the Federal Government of Canada has announced further steps to protect Canadians from COVID-19 and its variants. Yesterday, the Government announced that all travel from India and Pakistan will be temporarily suspended for 30 days as they monitor the ongoing situation.
This announcement has additional ramifications for travellers that may not be known to our clients. The Government has directed air operators not to accept COVID-19 pre departure tests performed in India or Pakistan. This means that if someone travels from India and Pakistan to Canada via an indirect route, they will need to stop and obtain a negative COVID-19 pre-departure test at their last point of departure before continuing to Canada.
It is not a surprise that travel restrictions are changing daily. Contact a member of our team to understand whether your travel has been impacted.
