September 30th marks Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a day in which we remember our nation's devastating past and the impact it continues to have on indigenous people across the country. We commemorate the survivors of residential schools, their families and communities. We acknowledge and remain aware of the atrocities that have continued, such as the missing and murdered indigenous women (MMIW) and the Seven Fallen Feathers.

Today is also known as Orange Shirt Day, which began as a small initiative in Williams Lake, B.C., on September 30th 2013. With federal legislation having been enacted in 2021, today marks the 5th year that Canada has officially recognized and observed this day. The orange T-shirt symbolizes the freedom, culture, and self-esteem lost at the hands of residential schools. This day of commemoration and remembrance plays a key role in advancing truth and reconciliation. It provides us with an opportunity to deepen our understanding of our country’s history, the intergenerational effects of residential schools, and the ongoing legacy indigenous communities continue to face. There are still many steps that must be taken towards truth and reconciliation. With the opportunities provided to us to listen and expand our understanding, there is hope that as a nation we are able to take a step closer each year.

Our team had a fabulous time at the CCI Eastern Ontario 2026 Condo Conference! The conference was certainly busy but brilliant, with our team participating in multiple sessions and getting the chance to connect and converse with industry members throughout the day. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, and an even bigger thank you to CCI - EO for the time and effort spent hosting and organizing this annual conference. This event always has so many opportunities to learn, share and connect, making it a conference we are always grateful to be a part of. We cannot wait until next year!!

Last week, members of our team had the pleasure of attending FirstService Residential’s Second Annual Condominium Symposium! A big thank you to the FSR team for the time and effort spent organizing this event. The day was a huge success, full of learning, connecting, and much, much more. It was great chatting with new and familiar faces that stopped by our booth, and we are looking forward to attending next year’s symposium!!

The Human Chapter: Wellness, Culture & Community in Condo Living will explore the human side of condominiums, including how communities can build stronger relationships, support mental health and wellness, and respond when someone is experiencing distress or crisis.

The discussion will also look at the challenges that can arise when tensions grow and how boards, managers and residents can help create communities that are more connected, respectful and supportive.
