Attention, ! Within the span of a month there have been 4 vehicle collisions in our neck of the woods affecting vulnerable road users—2 injured, 2 killed. The London cycling community is coming out to remind drivers that our safety and lives matter.

September 14: Pedestrian struck by driver on Hale Street by Hamilton Road, killed

September 16: Cyclist struck by utility truck driver at corner of Dundas Street and Maitland Street, sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries

September 30: Cyclist struck by driver on Richmond Street between Gore Road and Marion Street near Thames Centre—just east of London—killed

October 6: Cyclist struck by LPS officer in cruiser on Hamilton Road, sent to hospital with minor injuries

We must end road violence in London.

Trigger Warning - Road Violence

On September 30, 2026, our client was cycling in Hamilton. He passed James Newlands in his grey pickup truck. Mr. Newlands didn’t like this. Words were exchanged and Mr. Newland sped unsafely past our client then brake checked to cause him injury.

Shocking video from a concerned citizen confirmed Mr. Newlands intentions and shed light on this terrible incident of road violence/road rage.

HPS has charged Newlands with Careless Driving and Assault.

We recommend in situations like this that you get the license plate in case the driver flees the scene but always that people be safe if they suspect a violent reaction.

As you can see from the second video attached, Mr. Newlands then fled nearly running over our client in the process.

On Friday night nearly 1000 people on bikes rode west to the site of Ford's first incoming bike lane removals, Bloor just east of Islington.

Strength in numbers.

The power of community in reporting road hazards is palpable and makes riding safer for all. This week with the help of Councillor 's office the Bloor and Russett fiasco was mostly remedied.

We also saw work done on areas our office and community members had previously reported on.

If you see a road hazard report it to your local municipality.

If you're injured because of a road hazard be sure to contact our office and file notice with the municipality within 10 days!

Despite our protestations, the SIU has seemingly greenlit use of force by police against cyclists for minor traffic infractions. With a mandate to determine criminality, the SIU didn't have to make such a broad anti-cyclist finding:

police ticket cyclists for traffic infractions leading to a violent takedown and injuries to cyclist
