Our Partner, Michael Giordano, was interviewed by Colin D’Mello from Global News on the changes to auto insurance coming July 1st.
These are significant changes that will make crucial benefits - “optional”. This means that you will need to specifically opt in to have the same coverage and financial protection after an accident. It is important that consumers educate themselves about these changes and opt in when renewing their auto policies after July 1st. An example of a benefit that will no longer be included in the standard coverage is the income replacement benefit. If you do not purchase optional benefits, you will no longer be entitled to a weekly benefit (up to $400 per week) if you are injured in an accident and are unable to work. There are many other benefits that have been removed from the standard package that will leave accident victims in an even worse position following an already devastating and unexpected accident.
You can learn more about the upcoming changes here https://truthaboutinsurance.ca/ or reach out to us and we would be happy to assist.
