On September 1, 2026, amendments to By-Law 8 came into effect that expand the information published on the Lawyer and Paralegal Directory, increasing transparency and making relevant licensee information easier for the public to find and understand.
The information posted on the Lawyer and Paralegal Directory will be expanded to include:

• licensee findings of guilt
• practice of other regulated professions and
• notice of the Law Society’s intention to seek interlocutory relief based on criminal or other charges, in certain circumstances, prior to the commencement of an interlocutory proceeding or the ex*****on of an undertaking by the subject licensee

These increased transparency measures support the Law Society's public protection mandate by helping members of the public access relevant information about lawyers and paralegals and make informed choices when choosing legal representation.

Coming soon: Increased transparency on the new Lawyer and Paralegal Directory

On September 1, 2026, amendments to By-Law 8 come into effect that will expand the information published on the Lawyer and Paralegal Directory, increasing transparency and making relevant licensee information easier for the public to find and understand.
