We are looking to hire an Individual to assist 2 busy lawyers and provide support in the overall running of the office. This role will be a combination of a receptionist/legal assistant. This is the perfect position for a law student, paralegal or clerk who wants to get first-hand experience in the legal industry as you will be working closely and substantively on both criminal and civil matters.

We are seeking an individual who is reliable, passionate about what they do and who can provide a high caliber level of service to our office and our clients.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

· Administrative work, primarily banking and answering telephones

· Correspond with and liaise between the lawyers, other staff, and clients

· Review and proofread outgoing documents and correspondence

· Organize workflow and initiate follow-up action in a timely manner to meet multiple deadlines

· File and maintain electronic and paper documentation using office filing system and procedures

· Legal research as required

· Draft, assemble, and review documentation and/or applications

· Willing and eager to work collaboratively and individually

· Ability to attend administrative court appearances on behalf of lawyers

· Ability to work Sundays (select) will be given priority

Qualifications:

· Proficiency with PC Law and billing procedures is an asset

· Paralegal or Law Clerk certificate is an asset

Knowledge and Skills:

· Strong client service focus and interpersonal skills

· Positive attitude with commitment to supporting a team

· Excellent verbal and written communication in English

· Ability to organize, multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

· Strong attention to detail

· High level of technical competency and skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Adobe Software.

Sabrina joined the firm in 2019 as an associate after working both as a summer student and articling student at the firm. She has worked under the leadership and guidance of Howard Cohen since August 2017. During this time, she gained immersive practical experience dealing with matters involving aspects of criminal and civil litigation, including preparation and participation in a complex jury trial. She has also worked on cases involving charges with drugs, fi****ms, fraud, theft, and assault.

Currently, Sabrina's practice focuses on both areas of law. Her knowledge in both provides a unique strategy to representing clients in both criminal and civil proceedings.

Sabrina is a member of the Toronto Lawyer's Association, the Canada Bar Association and the Women's Law Association of Ontario.
