Thank you to everyone who joined our CHBA Mentors & Mentees gathering in Toronto on October 1 to celebrate the relationships built through our Mentorship Program.

To our mentors: thank you for sharing your time, experience, and guidance. To our mentees: thank you for bringing your curiosity, commitment, and perspectives to these relationships.

This week, Lilia Kvorka had the privilege of representing the CHBA at the ceremonies honouring the appointment of the Honourable Patrick J. Boucher as Chief Justice of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
She attended the sunrise ceremony led by Bob Goulais and Perry McLeodShabogesic, Indigenous Knowledge Keepers to celebrate Chief Boucher appointment.
The swearing ceremony took place later in the evening, were members of the judiciary, and government officials, including Her Honour the Honourable Edith Dumont, Supreme Court of Canada Justice Michelle O’Bonsawin, Chief Justice Michael Tulloch, Attorney General Doug Downey, Chief Justice Sharon Nicklas, Deputy Attorney General David Corbett, among others, shared heartfelt remarks and congratulatory messages for Chief Boucher.
Representatives of other legal organizations were also in attendance for this historic appointment. Chief Justice Boucher is the first FrancoOntarian to serve in this role, a milestone that reflects the evolving diversity of leadership within our Courts and the importance of representation at the highest levels of the justice system.
In Lilia’s words, “It was a fantastic day. I was honoured to witness these ceremonies and to celebrate this milestone alongside so many dedicated leaders. Moments like these remind us why our work at CHBA matters, ensuring that diverse voices, traditions, and communities continue to be seen, respected, and included in the fabric of Canada’s legal system.”
