🚨 Is Canada changing Express Entry?

Not exactly.

IRCC is developing a new digital platform to modernize how immigration applications are processed. Express Entry candidates are expected to be among the groups transitioned to the new system.

But this does NOT currently mean changes to CRS scoring, eligibility, draw rules, or invitation volumes.

📌 No new Express Entry profile is required right now.
📌 Keep your current IRCC account and profile updated.
📌 Follow official IRCC instructions for future changes.

And be careful with posts claiming that a completely new Express Entry system is already confirmed.

🇨🇦 New LMIA employer guidance in Canada

Service Canada published updated guidance on September 18, 2026, clarifying how it determines who the actual employer is when reviewing an LMIA application.

Temporary foreign workers also cannot simply be classified as independent contractors when the actual relationship is employer–employee.

One important clarification: the update does not announce automatic cancellation of existing positive LMIAs or valid work permits.

If you’re an employer planning an LMIA application, or a temporary foreign worker in Canada, understanding who the actual employer is can be important for compliance.

A new RBC report has proposed 7 major changes to how Canada could select economic immigrants through Express Entry.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: These are NOT official Express Entry changes.

These are recommendations from RBC, not decisions made by the Government of Canada or IRCC.

IRCC has NOT announced that category-based Express Entry draws are ending. They remain active under the current system.
