🚨 Is Your Mortgage Rate About to Jump?

If you’ve been waiting for rates to drop further, the market just sent a wake-up call. Here is the 60-second update on what’s happening in Canadian real estate right now and how we've helped our buyers stay ahead of it.

The "Hold" that felt like a "Hike": Last week, the Bank of Canada kept the official rate at 2.25%, but they warned that inflation risks are rising again due to global energy prices.

The Bond Market is Spiking: Fixed mortgage rates are powered by government bonds, not just the Bank of Canada. Bond yields have surged this week, which means the "sale" on fixed rates is ending.

The Window is Closing: Those 3.8% and 3.9% fixed rates we saw last week are being pulled. Lenders are already starting to nudge their 5-year fixed offers back above 4.0%.

THE BOTTOM LINE:
Variable rates are staying steady for now, but fixed rates are on the move UP. If you are lucky enough to be one of our existing clients, we were actively locking buyers into a guaranteed lower rate for the next 120 day, providing them with a edge against those who didn't.

✅ YOUR TO-DO LIST:

Check your renewal date. If you’re renewing in 2026, you’re likely jumping from a 2% rate to a 4%+ rate. Start planning for that "payment shock" now.

Lock in a Rate Hold. Most lenders will let you freeze today’s rate for 120 days. It costs nothing and protects you if rates continue to climb this spring.
