Maintaining a meaningful relationship with both parents can play an important role in a childβs sense of stability and well-being after separation. Children often benefit from the love, guidance, and support each parent can provide, while also having the opportunity to maintain strong relationships on both sides of their family.
Although co-parenting can be difficult, especially when conflict is present, it is important to focus on arrangements that support the childβs needs and allow them to maintain meaningful connections with both parents whenever appropriate. Every family is different, but a child-focused approach can help create greater consistency and security during a major transition.
