Draw #438 is in. IRCC issued 562 invitations on August 31 under the Provincial Nominee Program.

The minimum CRS score to get an invite was 697, well above what most other categories require. A PNP nomination adds 600 points to your CRS score, which is why the cutoff sits so high.

He was a U.S. citizen. He'd been to Canada before with no issues. Then in 2024, he was turned away at the border, over a paperwork step from 1995 he never even knew about. 🇨🇦

A Certificate of Departure doesn't expire. Not after 30 years. Not after a prior visit. Not after citizenship elsewhere.

If you were ever denied refugee status, issued a removal or departure order, or asked to leave Canada (even decades ago) it's worth checking your admissibility before you book your next trip.

Canada's immigration strategy has shifted. If you're on temporary status waiting for things to work out, read this.

There's no guaranteed path to PR just because you're already here. But the signal is clear: Canada wants to move temporary residents to permanent status, if they match what the country needs.

By August 21, 2026, French-language draws issued over 50,500 invitations this year, more than CEC. Learning French may be one of the fastest paths to PR right now.

Submitting a spousal sponsorship application soon? Read this first!
Before you hit submit, know this: IRCC's R10 completeness check is the first hurdle your file has to pass. If it doesn't, your application gets returned... not refused, returned. That means no queue-jumping and time lost you won't get back.

Some of the most common and avoidable reasons applications get sent back:
♦️ Missing country-specific forms
♦️ Police certificates without certified translations
♦️ Marriage certificate vs. record of solemnization confusion
♦️ Missing proof of status (inland applicants)
♦️ Even picking inland vs. outland incorrectly on the portal

I know there's a lot of "I did it myself and it was easy" content out there, and genuinely, that's great for those folks. But not every situation is simple. If yours isn't, that doesn't mean you're doing something wrong. It just means you deserve support that fits your reality.

Round #437 is in. IRCC issued 5,000 invitations on August 19, targeting the French-Language Proficiency category.

The minimum CRS score to get an invite was 382, well below what typical all-program draws have required lately. Candidates needed a CLB or NCLC level 7 or higher in French on all four skill areas, tested within the last two years.

This category exists to support economic growth through Francophone immigration outside Quebec. If your French test results qualify, this draw is a real opportunity.

Canada's citizenship certificate backlog just passed 121,800 applications. Average wait time has doubled since May, from 12 months to 25 months.

Much of the surge is tied to Bill C-3. It opened citizenship to people with a Canadian ancestor, even from generations back. Nearly half of everyone newly approved was born in the U.S.
