A vigil for Henry Nowak organized by Paul Fromm was cancelled after Antifa activists shared details of the event and circulated a flyer calling to “Smash Toronto Nazis.”

Even so, despite the cancellation and rainy weather, a few people on both sides still showed up.

Councillor James Pasternak speaks at a vigil for Constable Marc Pinizzotto, who was shot and killed just days ago while executing a warrant as part of an investigation into shootings targeting the US Consulate and local synagogues.

After a moment of silence, Pasternak prays for a return to “peace, respect, and tolerance,” and for an end to “hate and violence.”

Across the street, a protester wears a shirt that reads: “All Zionists Are Racist. Every Single One.”

Two demonstrations unfold at Bathurst and Sheppard: the weekly pro-Palestine gathering on one side, and a vigil for Constable Marc Pinizzotto on the other.

Constable Pinizzotta was shot to death earlier this week while executing a warrant related to an investigation into shootings at the US Consulate and local synagogues.

Although the vigil is attended by several familiar pro-Israel demonstrators, only Canadian flags are displayed, including a Thin Blue Line Canadian flag.

A somber Inspector Bernardo stops by the vigil and expresses his appreciation.

The alternative event to the annual World Naked Bike Ride, advertised as a “queer, trans, feminist clothing-optional bike ride,” did not take place.

Organizer Abuzara Chaudhary arrived fully clothed, and no clothing-optional group ride materialized.

One individual attended to counterprotest, stating: “Public nudity isn’t appropriate!”
