More CEC candidates received invitations in the new Express Entry draw
On May 27, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held a new Express Entry draw for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates. IRCC issued 3,000 Invitations to Apply (ITA) in this draw. In round #417, the cut-off score was 518 points, four points more than it was in the previous CEC-targeted draw, and the highest for the category in 2026. The tie-breaking rule for this round was April 30, 2026, at 03:16:01 UTC. As of May 24, 2026, 238,847 profiles were registered in the Express Entry pool. So far in 2026, the Government of Canada has issued 75,341 invitations under 29 Express Entry draws.

Statistics Canada reports an increase in international visitors entering Canada in March 2026
Statistics Canada has released new travel data for March 2026, showing an increase in international visitors. The total number of non-resident travellers entering Canada exceeded 1.6 million, marking a 4.7 percent increase over last year. Trips to Canada by United States residents rose by 4.4 percent to reach 1.3 million arrivals. Most American visitors travelled by automobile, and over half of those drove across the border for same-day trips. Overseas resident arrivals also increased by 5.6 percent, driven heavily by a surge in travellers from Europe. The United Kingdom, Mexico, and India remained the top three source countries for these overseas visitors.

Prince Edward Island conducted the fifth PEI PNP draw of the year
On May 21, 2026, Prince Edward Island conducted 2026’s fifth invitation round under the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP). In this draw, PEI issued 114 invitations to apply (ITAs) to candidates working in priority sectors based on economic impact in PEI. The province prioritized candidates with employment offers from PEI-based organizations and international graduates from recognized institutions, including UPEI, Holland College, and College de l'Île. This year, the province invited 477 candidates under the PEI PNP. According to the schedule, the next PEI PNP draw is scheduled for June 18, 2026.

Alberta conducted four AAIP draws in the first half of May
Alberta released the results of the recent Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) immigration draws. On May 1, 2026, the province invited 12 candidates under the Rural Renewal Stream with a minimum score of 50. On May 6, 2026, Alberta issued 832 invitations through the Alberta Opportunity Stream with a minimum score of 54. Additionally, Alberta invited 207 Express Entry candidates through targeted pathways. On May 7, 2026, the province invited 146 candidates under the Accelerated Tech Pathway with a minimum score of 57. On May 13, 2026, Alberta issued 61 invitations through the Dedicated Health Care Pathway – Express Entry with a minimum score of 57.

On May 14, 2026, the Government of British Columbia conducted new draws under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Programs (BCPNP) priorities and issued invitations to skilled candidates with work experience in healthcare, childcare, and high economic impact occupations. The province issued a total of 640 invitations, including 117 healthcare professionals, 86 early childhood educators (ECE), and 437 High Economic Impact invitations. Alberta released the results of the latest AAIP draws
Alberta released the results of the recent Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) immigration draws. On April 15, the province invited 50 healthcare workers under the Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sectors pathway. The April 16 draw invited 37 candidates under the Dedicated Health Care Pathway – non-Express Entry stream, while the April 23 draw invited 10 candidates under the Alberta Express Entry Stream – Law Enforcement Pathway. Additionally, the province invited 98 candidates under the Tourism and Hospitality Stream. So far, Alberta has invited 4,811 candidates through the AAIP streams in 2026.
