Last but not least, our fourth and final team is the Administration and Communications department. Members are the backbone here, having opportunities to work internally and in collaboration with the other groups, gaining a taste of LSOU overall.

Students wanting to be involved in social media, finance, or external relations should definitely consider sending in an application here🙂‍↔️🤌🏽

And last but not least, we have our final panelist for the event! Remember to register through the link in our bio, the panel is taking place TOMORROW @5-7 on zoom! Read below to learn more about Gabriela:

Gabriela is a Partner at EY Law LLP in Toronto. She possesses over 30 years of experience practicing exclusively in the field of corporate immigration and citizenship law, advising multinational corporations on strategic immigration planning, global workforce mobility, and immigration-related issues during mergers and acquisitions.

Gabriela is currently the Secretary of the Canadian Bar Association Citizenship and Immigration National Section Executive, where she also serves as the Co-Chair of the Anti-Racism Committee. Gabriela has served for many years as a member of the Ontario Bar Association’s Citizenship and Immigration Section Executive in different capacities, and is a Regional Representative for 2022-2023. She is also a Member at Large of the OBA Women Lawyers Forum Executive, is a past member of the OBA Institute Planning Committee, and was a Board member for the Jewish Refugee Action Network.

Gabriela is listed in the Best Lawyers directory, and was selected as the 2023 Lawyer of the Year for Immigration Law for Toronto. She is also a member of the Who’s Who Legal Corporate Immigration listing, and was also a member of the International Who's Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers (1st, 2nd and 3rd editions), published by Business Law Research.

Gabriela has appeared before parliamentary and senate committees, and has lectured extensively on immigration and citizenship issues at law schools, colleges, and professional organizations, such as the CBA, the OBA and the Law Society of Ontario; and at seminars organized by the private sector, such as CERC, EHRA, HRPAO, Insight, and the Canadian Institute. She has also authored numerous articles.

Gabriela is a graduate of the University of Toronto, holds a JD granted by Osgoode Hall Law School at York University and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario.

Here we have our third panelist for the Legal Industry Panel. Read below for a brief introduction from Ellena herself!

Hi, I’m Ellena! I'm a first year law student at the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Commerce graduate (with a Minor in Economics) of Rotman Commerce at the University of Toronto.

During my undergraduate education, I took on various leadership positions. I was a member of the Rotman Commerce Law Association student group and VP of Delta Delta Delta Women’s Organization. Most notably, I worked as a legal assistant at King Law Chambers and interned at Marsh McLennan in my later years.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, travelling, and star-gazing!

Corinna Traill graduated from the University of Toronto summa cm laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree, double major in Greek and Latin in 2006, and from Osgoode Hall Law School with a Juris Doctor in 2011.

After volunteering and working with the Community Advocacy and Legal Centre in Belleville, Ontario where she assisted low-income residents in employment, human rights, landlord & tenant and social benefits law, Corinna completed her Articles of Clerkship with one of Canada’s leading labour law firms, CaleyWray Labour & Employment Lawyers where she represented public and private sector trade unions. Corinna was called to the Ontario Bar in January, 2013.

Corinna is also currently serving her 4th term as the Local Councillor for Ward 3 in Clarington, the Chair of Legislative Services at the Municipality and she ran as the Liberal candidate in the 2015 federal candidate in the Riding of Durham.

Corinna started her own practice “Traill Law” with the goal of making Bay Street expertise available at affordable rates. She has experience in many aspects of law, including family law, estate litigation and civil litigation. She also has extensive expertise in the following fields of labour and employment law: wrongful dismissal, social benefits law, employment standards complaints, occupational health and safety, grievance arbitration, human rights law and employment insurance appeals.

She is also active as a member of the Board of Directors on the Tyrone Community Hall Board, the Jury Lands Committee, and the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority . As a proud member of the Bowmanville Business and Professional Women’s Club, she also serves as the Club’s Young BPW Representative and she is an avid target shooter and member of the Pineridge Target Sport Club.
