๐จ๐ฆ Canada Announces Major Express Entry Changes: What Skilled Workers Need to Know
Canadaโs Express Entry system is set for important changes effective November 3, 2026, and if you are working toward permanent residence, now is the time to understand what they could mean for you.
One of the key changes involves additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points for eligible candidates with qualifying Canadian work experience or a qualifying job offer in a high-wage occupation.
Here are three important takeaways:
๐น Additional CRS points: The number of points available will depend on the applicable occupation and wage level.
๐น Changes to LMIA requirements: An LMIA will no longer be required for qualifying job offers for specified Express Entry purposes, subject to applicable requirements.
๐น You cannot combine both options: Candidates who qualify under both the Canadian work experience and job-offer options will receive whichever option provides more points.
These changes may create opportunities for some candidates, but eligibility is not automatic. Your occupation, NOC, qualifying experience and individual circumstances all matter.
As an immigration professional, I encourage candidates not to rely on assumptions or general social media commentary. Review your profile, understand the applicable requirements and make informed decisions about your next steps.
