You have contacted a personal injury lawyer after a serious accident. Now what?

The truth is, your legal team should do more than build your case. A trauma-informed personal injury lawyer understands that trauma can affect memory, communication, trust, and decision-making. That means giving you the time, support, and guidance you need while protecting your legal rights every step of the way.

If you are looking for a personal injury lawyer in Toronto or anywhere in Ontario, our latest blog explains what you can expect during the legal process after a traumatic injury and how a compassionate legal approach can make recovery feel less overwhelming.

Do you know when you’re legally required to stop for a streetcar in Toronto?

Under Ontario law, drivers and cyclists must stop behind open streetcar doors and stay at least two metres away while passengers are getting on or off.

With streetcars sharing busy Toronto roads with cars, cyclists and pedestrians, understanding Ontario’s streetcar safety rules can help prevent serious injuries.

In this video, Mike breaks down what Toronto drivers, cyclists and TTC passengers should know about streetcar safety and sharing the road safely.

Can you install a camera or “Granny Cam” in a long-term care home room in Ontario?

The answer isn’t a simple yes or no.
Ontario doesn’t have a law that specifically allows or prohibits “granny cams” in long-term care homes. Every facility may have its own policies, and privacy and consent are important, especially in shared rooms.

In this video, Melissa and Daniel explain the key things you need to know and what families should consider before installing one.

Our HSH team traded the office for the ballpark and enjoyed a summer social, cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays as they took on the Boston Red Sox.

It was a great opportunity to connect outside of work, enjoy the game, and spend some quality time together.

Most importantly, our summer socials are a chance to celebrate and show our appreciation for the incredible people who make HSH what it is. We’re grateful for the dedication, teamwork, and energy our staff bring every day. 💙

Here’s to Team HSH and more great memories together this summer!

Adam and Greg discuss the lasting impact of boating tragedies, the importance of safety on the water, the lack of mandatory insurance for boaters, and the lessons that continue to resonate for those who enjoy the water across Ontario.

Another successful result at the Licence Appeal Tribunal.

HSH lawyers Kaitlyn MacDonell and Luis Palacio successfully defended a catastrophic impairment finding after the insurer sought reconsideration of a December 2021 motor vehicle accident decision.

In a decision released on July 7, 2026, the LAT dismissed the insurer's reconsideration request in its entirety, finding that the insurer's arguments were simply a disagreement with how the original adjudicator weighed the evidence, which is not a reviewable error. The catastrophic impairment finding remains in place.

For people seriously injured in motor vehicle accidents, a catastrophic impairment designation can make a life-changing difference by providing access to substantially greater accident benefits and rehabilitation funding.

If you or someone you know has been seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident and is facing an accident benefits dispute, contact Kaitlyn MacDonell or the team at Howie, Sacks & Henry LLP.
