HSH Partner Kaitlyn MacDonell was a guest speaker at the ZTGH Annual Educational Seminar, joining the accident benefits panel for a day of insightful discussion and perspective-sharing across the industry.

Conversations like these create meaningful opportunities to connect with defence counsel, insurance professionals, and others within the space while openly discussing the ongoing challenges in the system and where accident benefits may be headed in the future.

Last week, our lawyers traded case files for cutting boards as they came together for a local retreat and finished off the day with the annual lawyers-and-spouses dinner. This year, instead of sitting down at a restaurant, they created their own seven course meal! Learning new cooking techniques an recipes, and working in teams created a great team-building experience.

In a profession where we are focused every day on complex cases, deadlines, and advocating for clients through difficult moments, taking time to step away from the day-to-day and connect with one another was incredibly valuable.

• Increased insurer scrutiny of disability claims
• The growing complexity of mental health and chronic pain cases
• Challenges surrounding “invisible” illnesses
• The importance of strong advocacy in increasingly technical disputes

Behind every strong case is a team working tirelessly behind the scenes.

Law clerks play a critical role in building cases through detailed research, organization, and client communication, helping ensure both legal strength and a more supported client experience.

Their work may not always be visible, but it is essential to achieving meaningful outcomes.

At HSH, our team is always striving to support our clients at every step, and that is why we are proud to work with some of the best law clerks in the field.
